July 2026 Update

New this month: Open Shores has launched its official GoFundMe campaign to help support legal consultation, research, and community outreach.  


Open Shores continues working to restore reasonable public parking for beach access on Boca Grande through research, documentation, public education, and community engagement. 


Since our last update, volunteers have continued reviewing public records, monitoring developments, expanding our website resources, and sharing information with the community.  Every document reviewed, meeting attended, and public record examined helps build a more complete understanding of the issues affecting public parking and practical beach access. 


Community Support


One of our biggest goals has been finding a sustainable way to continue this volunteer effort.


We are pleased to announce the launch of our new GoFundMe campaign, giving supporters another way to help fund legal consultation, public records, research, and community outreach.


Community support allows Open Shores to continue its work while remaining a volunteer-led organization focused on transparency, reasonable public parking, and meaningful beach access.

Open Shores of Southwest Florida is dedicated to working to restore reasonable public parking for beach access in Boca Grande through research, documentation, public education, transparency, and community engagement.


We document public parking conditions, review public records, monitor government actions, and share factual information with the community. Through these efforts, we work to support practical, meaningful access to Boca Grande's public beaches while encouraging informed public participation and constructive dialogue.

Meaningful public beach access is about more than having a public beach on a map. It means people can reasonably reach, park, use, and enjoy that beach under everyday conditions. 


Open Shores of Southwest Florida documents real-world conditions, encourages transparency, and promotes practical solutions that support reasonable public parking and meaningful public beach access for residents, visitors, businesses, seniors, caregivers, and individuals with mobility limitations. 


Our goal is simple: to help support reasonable public parking and meaningful public beach access that is usable, accessible, and available in practice for everyone.
